ASI Company Secretary and Past President, Allan Medcraft, visited Hong Kong in February to present a paper at the Fire Asia Conference 2012. Fire Asia 2012 is a three day conference with 38 prestigious speakers. These conferences have been a must for Asian Emergency Services since 1987. The triennial event has earned a reputation by providing an avenue to gather a think-tank of professionals associated with the fire industry and other emergency services.

Allan spoke on the subject of “ The Preparedness to Respond by Fire, Police and Ambulance to Incidents for a Safer Society”, drawing on his experiences in planning and providing training programmes for the Emergency Services in Nigeria. Other speakers included the Deputy Chief Fire Officer for China, the President of the Chief Fire Officers Association (UK) and several Chief Fire Officers from Australia and the USA.

While in Hong Kong, Allan met the committee of the Hong Kong Branch of ASI and some of the ASI members in China. China has the largest number of ASI Members outside of the UK. During the meeting, Allan presented some members with Membership Certificates as a result of them being successful in ASI Exams.
